24/04/06: What are you doing for RSPCA Week?

Benji

The Llys Nini Animal Centre in Swansea is throwing out a challenge to animal lovers across the country - "What are YOU doing for RSPCA Week?"

1000s of animals in Wales are rescued, treated or rehomed the RSPCA every year. Animals like Benji the puppy, from Pembrokeshire, who had his leg smashed badly when his owner threw him across the room and then dumped him. The local RSPCA Branch paid for treatment, which unfortunately involved amputating the leg, he is now making a good recovery at Llys Nini Animal Centre.

Missy the cat was probably abandoned when her owners found out that she was pregnant. The little cat was unfed and ill, she gave birth to her kittens on a cold wet Cardiff roof. Unfortunately one of the kittens died, but Missy and the remaining kittens where taken to Llys Nini to be nursed and cared for; all now are on the way to a full recovery and will soon be needing new homes. Where would these animals go if it was not for Llys Nini Animal Centre?

However, although affiliated to the RSPCA, the Centre does not receive any of its running costs from them, it is entirely funded by local people. Steve Byrne, the Centre Manager said " RSPCA week is a very important time for us, it is when we ask the public to help us to help animals in need. We are challenging animal lovers to do something to raise a little money for the Centre. People can hold events in work, at home, in school, no matter how small, every little helps. We will be publishing some of these events on our web site, so we are encouraging people to tell us what they did, send a picture when they send us their cash. There are lots of people who really care about animals, we are asking them to think what would happen to these creatures in need if Llys Nini wasn't there. So we are asking people, groups and organisations "What are YOU doing for RSPCA Week?" A cake sale, a coffee morning, a dress down or dress up day, a swear box??????

Please send all money raised to RSPCA Llys Nini Animal Centre Swansea, SA4 9WB or bring them in to the Centre any day except Wednesdays between 11.00 and 3.30.  If we have just £1 from every pet owner in the country, we will be sure to be able to continue to help animals like Benji and Missy.

Tasty Royal Ebay Auction for RSPCA Week

Llys Nini Animal Centre in Swansea is hoping that its tasty Royal Ebay Auction will serve up a lot of cash in order to care for its corgis and other animals in its care.

The Centre has been luckily enough to have a special menu donated to it - that of a Royal Banquet at Windsor Castle during  Silver Jubilee Year and on or about the Queen's Official Birthday (June 17th 1977).

"We are delighted to be given such an item and hope that the Queen, a well known dog lover and patron of the RSPCA, will approve of us using it to raise funds for needy animals in our care. We put it up on Ebay over the
weekend, there are already significant bids on it. This item is particularly significant this week, just after the Queens 80th Birthday Celebrations."

The menu comprises white card with gold edging, gold embossed crown and EIIR. The 3 course meal is described in French -  Avocados to start, followed by beef, courgettes, potatoes and lettuce, followed by Chocolate mousse, accompanied by 3 sorts of wine. Visit the Llys Nini eBay store for the listing. Good luck!
