The recent bad weather has stranded two seals on the beaches of Gower in the past week. Both have been brought to the seal care unit of the Llys Nini Animal Centre to receive first class treatment from the Centre's staff before being transported to the RSPCA's specialist seal centre in Norfolk. The seal pictured was rescued by RSPCA Inspector Elaine Spence from Rhossilli beach this morning. Staff were alerted after a member of the public calling the National RSPCA's hotline (0870 55 55 999). Staff believe she is approximately one month old. She is underweight and has a number of cuts to her head. The five-hour trip to Norfolk will take place in the next few days once the seal has been rehydrated and she has gained some strength. |
